Amasi Flapjacks with Nutella®

Johannesburg Amasi Flapjacks with Nutella®

INGREDIENTS For 4 Serves

  • 250g Self Raising Flour

  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar

  • 500ml Amasi

  • 2 Eggs

  • 3 Tablespoons Melted Butter

  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Essence

  • 60g Nutella®

  • To Serve: ½ a small Pineapple, sliced and grilled & 2 Fresh Granadillas

To prepare this delicious recipe, 15g of Nutella® per person is enough to enjoy!

METHOD

  1. Place the self raising flour & sugar into a mixing bowl.

  2. In another bowl whisk the Amasi, eggs and vanilla essence until well combined.

  3. Make a well in the centre of the flour and pour the amasi mixture in, whisk together to get a smooth thick batter, add the butter and whisk it in.

  4. Get a large non-stick skillet onto the stove at a medium to high heat.

  5. Dependent on whether you’d like to do large flapjacks or smaller ones – spoon the desired amount of flapjack batter onto the hot pan. As soon as you see bubbles start to form on the top of the flapjack, flip it over and continue to cook on the other side until golden.

  6. Serve with a smear of Nutella® (1 Tablespoon per flapjack or stack) a piece of charred caramelized pineapple and Fresh Granadilla.
